I love NLP, and here’s why

By Sherrie Frank

Neuro-linguistic programming isn’t just a seminar topic for Wings—it’s also the model supporting the elegance and effectiveness of our trainings. I’d like to tell you why I ❤ NLP and think it rocks!

Psychology Today Magazine said, “Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) is arguably the most powerful Behavioral Science on the planet today.” While I haven’t studied up on all the many types of behavioral sciences out there, I do agree that NLP is a powerful tool for making lasting behavioral changes. Over and over again I have witnessed clients who have struggled for years with specific limiting behavioral patterns experience a paradigm shift after learning NLP. They cross over a threshold into a deeper level of self-acceptance and confidence in themselves and their abilities.

I love watching the power of NLP even at the level of beginner. The results are tangible and powerful. NLP offers many skills that work in a variety of fields for a variety of purposes. Here are a few:

  • Counselors and licensed social workers use NLP in their practices. One counselor shared with me that, after 20 years, her best day as a counselor came the week after she completed her NLP practitioner training.
  • Leaders and managers tell me that NLP helps them create the results they want. They are able to communicate with a variety of styles, create structures for learning and change, and be confident in their capabilities and at ease with themselves and others.
  • Students take NLP to learn skills that aren’t taught in college but that are necessary to get the most out of education. They take NLP to learn powerful study and testing techniques, increase their interview skills, and enhance their ability to communicate effectively.
  • Educators have been using NLP for years to create dynamic curriculum. NLP teaches to a variety of learning styles and offers learning strategies for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. It is an invaluable tool when designing learning models.

I love that we offer NLP certification as a part of our body of trainings. Participants say it “connects the dots” between the what they’ve learned in the seminars. Understanding deepens as they see how the structure of their change process.
